The Pick Up – May 8th Edition
This week’s The Pick Up was short and sweet; there wasn’t anything that caught my eye at the comic book shop and no major game releases. Wallet am happy. I did pick up a few virtual items, so here we go – this week’s The Pick Up:
Captain America #1-6 (Digital Download) – This week I used up the rest of my iTunes credit on the first 6 issues of Ed Brubaker’s 2004 Captain America reboot. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the series and after the first 6 books, I’m hooked! The pacing of the comic is fantastic, in fact, it was damn hard not to buy issues 7 and beyond. I’m extremely curious on how the series goes from the death of Red Skull to the death of Steve Rogers and beyond, so expect to see an update next week on the next 5 issues… good stuff.
Iron Man 2 iPad - I posted a short review on Iron Man 2 iPad a few days back, and I’ve gone back a couple times to replay a few missions as War Machine just to make sure my excitement for the movie didn’t cloud my judgement… and… Iron Man 2 iPad is still a super strong super hero effort by the talented guys and gals over at GameLoft. I have decided the draw-in issues on the iPhone version are super distracting – so if you’re in the market – iPad or bust!
Picross 3D - My only non-digital purchase this week was Picross 3D for the Nintendo DS. Picross 3D is DS crack – I dare you to try the game out, you won’t be able to put it down! The whole Mears clan is actually addicted to this cute puzzler and I keep chopping at the bit to get my hands on the game. The best way to describe the game is a visual suduko/puzzle hybrid, but honestly – there’s not a whole lot on the market to compare it to. And did I mention it’s only 20 dollars?!
That’s it for this week’s The Pick Up. Thanks again for tuning in, I actually have a big week planned for the Digital Nipps including the first in a series of celebrity interviews!
